Salzburg World Heritage
In order to preserve Salzburg's world-famous cultural heritage the city is on UNESCO's list of World Cultural Heritages. Countless historic buildings and art treasures in Salzburg have always delighted guests from all over the world.
The baroque city of Salzburg is located on the River Salzburg and is considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful cities. The historic townscape is characterised by steeples and impressive historic buildings.
Art & culture
Salzburg has often been loathed by its famous artistic sons, but nevertheless, they did leave great art gems behind. The city of Mozart offers guests a great variety of museums and music festivals. During the summer the whole old town vibrates with the music of the operas and with the plays during the traditional Salzburg Festival. Fans of classical music will enjoy audio indulgence over Easter and Whitsun.
Shopping & entertainment
The world-famous shopping mile, Getreidegasse, makes shopping dreams come true. Here boutiques, global brands and small traditional Salzburg shops are situated next to each other. Enjoy great shopping moments on Linzergasse, in the Neustadt district on the other side of the river, or at the shopping malls outside the city.
Salzburg's old town offers a great variety of stylish coffee houses and restaurants. Try typical Austrian dishes and do not miss out on the world-famous Salzburg dessert – Salzburger Nockerl.
A Cineplexx cinema shows the latest blockbusters, and the alternative cinema "Das Kino" shows indie films from all over the world, mostly with subtitles.
Experience nature in the middle of the city
Both local mountains, Mönchsberg and Kapuzinerberg, serve as great recreational areas above the city's rooftops for locals and guests.
The huge parks in Hellbrunn, Salzburg Zoo as well as the Salzachseen's natural ponds in the north of the city, invite you to lovely breaks and strolls. If you want to feel like a local, find a spot on the Salzach riverside and sit for a while or take a walk along the river, one of the favourite excursion activities for a sunny day in Salzburg.
